Abstract Submission Guidelines

Deadline poster abstract submission: 15th July 2025

The theme for this Conference is: "When Death is Inevitable, Life is a Choice"


Information for the Submission of Abstracts

Abstracts on any aspect of pediatric palliative care are welcome.

Presentations should aim to promote excellence in pediatric palliative care and can be submitted in the following topics:

  1. Paediatric palliative care services in hospital, including intensive care unit, paediatric oncology and transplant ward.
  2. Pain and symptom management, including non-pharmacological therapies.
  3. Rehabilitation, nutrition and end-of-life care for children with palliative care needs.
  4. Psychosocial and spiritual care including grief and bereavement.
  5. Children’s palliative care education for healthcare professionals and caregivers.
  6. Transitional care from hospital to home among children with palliative care needs.
  7. Community paediatric palliative care service among health clinics and hospices.
  8. Family and volunteer perspectives in children’s palliative care.
  9. Ethical issues in paediatric palliative care.
  10. Perinatal palliative care.
  11. Palliative care for adolescents and young people.
  12. Advocacy work for children’s palliative care.
  13. Research in paediatric palliative care.

Audits of current services and case reports with learning value(s) pertaining to children’s palliative care are welcome.

The conference language is English.


Target Audience:

Anyone with an interest in paediatric palliative care including: administrators, clinical leaders, physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, counsellors, volunteers, educators, researchers, advocates, parents and any individuals interested in paediatric hospice and all-inclusive coordinated care.


Submission Guidelines:

  1. Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting author who needs to register as a participant in 2025 NCCPCM prior to abstract submission.
  2. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words and are due no later than 15th July 2025.
  3. Please refer to the designated format for abstract submission: Abstract Format
  4. Abstracts need to be prepared in a structured form which has brief descriptions of the following headings: OBJECTIVE, METHOD, RESULTS, and CONCLUSIONS.
  5. Abstract must have at least 5 keywords that characterize the main topics of the article. Use recognized vocabularies related to the disciplines discussed that are available in the MeSH thesaurus.
  6. Authors should use Times New Roman/Arial, size 12, roman type, sentence case, and double spacing in the text, unless specified otherwise.
  7. Abstracts must be submitted with the Google Form Link.
  8. All abstracts must include current contact information with email address.
  9. The abstracts should be original and have not been presented in another conference or published in another journal before.
  10. All abstracts will be scored by at least three members of the scientific committee and the FIVE with the highest scores will be selected for oral presentation.
  11. Poster abstracts will be reviewed by at least two reviewers, and the presenter shall be present during poster viewing.
  12. All abstracts will be published in MJPCH (Malaysian Journal of Paediatrics and Child Health) as Supplementary Issue, but abstracts for case reports will only be published in the conference programme book.
  13. Successful authors of abstracts will be notified by email by 31th July 2025.

Poster

  1. Successful applicants will be required to display the poster at the conference utilizing the standardized poster template.
  2. They must be available to stand by their poster to discuss the poster findings as required during the poster presentation session.
  3. Posters can be printed on paper or fabric and/or laminated.
  4. Posters will be displayed on free-standing display boards. Your poster space allocation is AO size, portrait (1189mm high x 841mm wide – maximum size).
  5. Presenters are required to hang their posters upon registration on Thursday 21st August 2025 and collect back the poster on Saturday 23rd August 2025 12pm.
  6. Posters will be available for the duration of the conference.

Bursaries open for application

Five registered participants who submitted abstracts are eligible to apply for bursaries (conference registration fees). To apply, interested parties must send an application through the Google Form Link :

Eligibility:

  1. Must have submitted an abstract for the conference.
  2. Open to all professionals / researchers from lower resources countries.
  3. Demonstrated financial need or outstanding merit.
  4. A short essay of not more than 500 words on why they should be awarded the bursary.

International participants will be given priority for the bursary.

The bursary will be open for application on 1 April 2025.
Due date for application for bursaries is on 15th July 2025.
Successful applicants will be informed via email by 31st July 2025.


Payment receipt for conference registration fees must be submitted under the applicant's name in order to claim bursaries.
