Building Hope
Dr Lee Chee Chan is a Consultant Paediatric Palliative Care Physician at Hospital Tunku Azizah, Kuala Lumpur. He is also the founder of MAPPAC.
In 2017, Dr Lee envisioned a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children with life-limiting illnesses. Guided by this vision, he founded MAPPAC as a platform to bring together healthcare professionals, parents, volunteers, and the wider community to advance paediatric palliative care through advocacy, fundraising, research, education, and public awareness. Through the dedication of a team of volunteer healthcare professionals, the first three Malaysian Children's Hospices were established in Kuala Lumpur, Sibu, and Klang.
Looking ahead, Dr Lee's long-term vision is to establish a purpose-built Children's Hospice, a dedicated facility where children and their families can receive comprehensive on-site respite care and other medical services. As he aptly said:
“We have to keep moving. Our strength and hope come from our hearts and hands, our voices, our love, and our practical care for these children and their families.
I believe this vision will one day become a reality. Every dream begins with hope, and every act of kindness brings us one step closer to that future.”
